Shui Jin Gui

Shui Jin Gui means golden water turtle, and the name comes from a rainstorm. The story goes that a landslide carried the original bush off one temple's land and down onto another's, and the two temples took each other to court over who owned it. Whether it happened is anyone's guess. It's a good indication of what a single Wuyi bush was worth.

Tightly curled leaf, glossy, green brown. The liquor is golden orange and clear, and the aroma is the reason people keep this cultivar in the four famous bushes: plum blossom, high and cold and quite persistent, still there when the cup has gone empty. Underneath, honey and a thick creamy weight from the slow roast. Sweet, clean at the finish, and the rock rhyme sits low and steady rather than announcing itself.
