What makes Wuyi Rock Tea so special? Is Da Hong Pao the same as Rock Tea? What does Zheng Yan really mean? Can we actually taste 岩韵 (Yan Yun, or "Rock Rhyme")? And why do some Rock Teas cost tens of dollars while others cost hundreds, or even thousands?

Join us for a two-part guided journey into the world of Wuyi Rock Tea. Through focused tasting, simple explanations and open discussion, we will explore the relationship between origin, terroir, traditional craftsmanship, roasting, cultivar, ageing and value.

Part 1 — Origin, Terroir, Craftsmanship & Taste
Discover what makes Wuyi Rock Tea unique. We will explore why Wuyi Mountain matters, what Zheng Yan means, how traditional handmade processing shapes the tea, why Rock Tea is roasted, and how to begin recognising qualities such as aroma, texture, Hui Gan 回甘 and Yan Yun 岩韵. The session combines guided learning with comparative tasting, letting you experience how place and craftsmanship are expressed in the cup.

Part 2 — Cultivars, Ageing, Authenticity & Value
Go deeper into the world of fine Rock Tea. We will explore famous cultivars such as Rou Gui, Shui Xian and Bei Dou, and the Four Famous Bushes 四大名丛, as well as the meaning of Lao Cong 老丛 and aged Rock Tea. Through comparative tasting, we will also discuss how to look beyond famous names, understand price differences, recognise value, and enjoy Rock Tea with greater confidence.

No prior Rock Tea knowledge is required. The series suits curious tea drinkers as well as existing Rock Tea lovers who want to deepen their understanding through tasting.
